How much does history (for lack of a better way to put it) matter vis-a-vis pregnancy, labour, delivery?
Somebody here posted something re. your own weight at birth being suggestive of what your own baby will weigh. Any truth to that?
If your mother had an easy or hard time with her pregnanc(y/ies), is it suggestive of any ease or difficulty for you?
Does the father’s family history of birth have any influence on what’s likely to happen to you?
Etc, etc.
Am curious about both old wives’ tales and actual fact…
It’s all old wives’ tales. There are many more factors than just how the mother was.
i was 7 lbs 8 oz when i was born my daughter was 6 lbs 15.8 oz… i had a semi difficult pregnancy and a ok labour…my mom ended up having a c-section…
my mum has always been surprised how different mine and my sisters pregnancies have been, they were nothing like hers!! so id say not alot of truth in it.
my babies were born at 5lb7oz, 7lb7oz, 7lb,8oz & 7lb
my sister 6lb8oz & 8lb 9oz
my mums were 4lb 8oz , 6lbs something twice then almost 9lb
so again i see little truth there!!!
all our births have been 100% different as well!!!
i seem to always go over due my sister on time and my mum went early!!
